Virtual Reality Motion Sensors.

What sensors are needed for VR and how they work? VR Sensor coils in EM motion tracking are 3D coils (three orthogonal coils) over same ferromagnetic core, placed in both ends of the Electromagnetic Motion System of the VR technology to generate and receive the magnetic field signals.

These VR sensors are composed basically by 3 orthogonal coils wound on a cubic core or a “low profile” core that would receive voltages that are vectors with 3 orthogonal components.

3DC Low profile VR Sensor.

In Premo Group, we use a high permeability NiZn material in all 3DC Low Profile coils (coils are directly over ferrite core so NiZn with high surface resistivity is mandatory). This material has high stability inside the temperature range.

Other advantages of these VR low profile sensors are:

  • Isotropy. Inductance of Z-axis is increased to balance similar.
