German technology and passion for motor joints in a pioneering project where the young technology talents of the European Locomotive compete in being the best and the fastest.
Racetech is a team consisting of 45 students studying vehicle construction, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and management, geo-engineering and mining and other subjects. With teamwork they develop, construct and build a racing car. With this car they want to take part on the racing series of "Formula Student" - in Germany the event is called "Formula Student Germany" (FSG) and takes place at the Hockenheimring.
PREMO develops the state of the art antennas for atomic watch signal reception in the racing cars (DCF77). The antenna receives the radio signal from the Frankfurt station in real time, this signal is processed by the car electronics to get an accurate time value. The multiple sensor measurement system of the vehicle is synchronized with the remote date logger using this signal.
There are several clock signal transmitters in different countries such as:
DCF77-77.5kHz (Germany), HBG-75kHz (Switzerland), MSF-60kHz (United Kingdom), TDF-162kHz (France), JJY-40&60kHz (Japan), WWVB-60kHz (USA), DCF49 (Germany): 129,1 kHz (using to remote control electric power distribution grids throughout Germany).
PREMO has developed the first radio clock receiver antenna in SMD technology (RCA-SMD series), in the market for applications (automotive, outdoor lamp switch-on-off control, etc)
This component is supplied in reels to automatic assembly process by SMT pick and place machine. In clock signals receiver circuits the antenna is big component; PREMO has miniaturized this antenna to make possible using low profile PCB´s with 100% integration level to avoid external cables connection manually.
Next figure show a typical resistance at resonance of RCA-SMD receiver clock antenna.
Antenna is delivered after a fine tuning in our factory, at specified frequency. This tune process is made in PREMO manufacturing line using a high reliability automatic station. This station checks the antenna performance in real time, getting a real working frequency centered.
These kind of antennas are configured as L-C resonant parallel tank (RCA-SMD-77A: 1.3mH // 3.3nF for 77.5 kHz and RCA-SMD-60A: 2.1mH // 3.3nF for 60 kHz) which offer a higher resistance (more than 75 kOhms) at resonance frequency (+/- 0.2 kHz).

Standard SMD version of this new radio clock antenna (at 40, 60 and 77.5 kHz) is already available in the market.
Others “Trough-hole” version and cable connections including others resonance frequencies are actually under developments (available in Q2-2010).
PREMO is a leading company in designing, manufacturing and marketing custom designed and inductive components for electronic market. Its product range includes RFID antennas, EMC filters, accessories and PLC components, planar transformers, power supplies, transformers, current transducers, chokes for automotive, renewable energies and railway, among other markets. http://www.grupopremo.com
