Switched mode power supplies design consists on an iterative process. A lot of possibilities and optimisations are possible. Several solutions have been suggested in order to improve performance and efficiency of these power supplies. In this application note, it is shown how efficiency of any flyback low-power power supply can be achieved, with small sizes, by means of operating at high frequency. Planar transformers are offering us this possibility.
